Do we share a mutual friend? Why yes, yes we do! And it is a really awesome brewery. Our Mutual Friend Brewing (OMF) opened in December 2012 with the goal of creating a place for community through their small neighborhood taproom in the up and coming River North (RiNo) neighborhood. Starting on a 31-gallon brew system, OMF worked tirelessly to understand the techniques and history of beer while also projecting trends to remain relevant. In 2015, they earned a silver medal in the wood and barrel aged sour category at the Great American Beer Festival for 24FPS, a 100% Colorado mixed-culture fermentation barrel-aged sour beer.
Onwards and upwards!
This year, OMF has experienced exciting growth! The brewery met the following milestones:
- Increased capacity on a seven-barrel brew system, meeting market demand.
- Received silver medals at Great American Beer Festival for the breweries staples Dreamy Thing and Saison Trystero.
- Expanded outside the taproom through a relationship with TRVE Brewing’s distribution arm to share OMF beer across the Front Range.
Who are the masterminds behind the operation?
With a dream and palette for good beer, founders Bryan Leavelle and Brandon Proff opened up OMF’s doors in 2012 and haven’t looked back since. From starting the brewery with a 31-gallon system to expanding to seven barrels, OMF is making tidal waves in the brewery world. Bryan started as the Head Brewer, and has since transferred the ‘torch’ to the current Head Brewer, Jan, and Assistant Brewer, Ryan. The brewery, taproom, and overall community that the OMF team has fostered over the last five years is tremendous.
